AREDN Network is Growing in Rhode Island

The Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network (AREDN) network is growing in Rhode Island!

New nodes on 2.4 GHz are operational at All Saints Academy using a 60 degree sector pointing west, and in Newport with an omni directional antenna. Look for SSIDs  AREDN or BBHN on channel -2.   These join existing nodes in Providence and NW RI.

Last week the Newport School Committee approved the placement of a W1VRC ham radio tower on campus which will include an AREDN node.  Other sites are being pursued in order to link — via RF — Newport County nodes to existing nodes in and around Providence.

The AREDN network currently supports these apps

  • IP cameras
  • Web Servers
  • PBX and VOIP Phones
